Heck Disease, also known as Focal Epithelial Hyperplasia (FEH), is a rare viral infection that affects the oral mucosa. This condition is caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) and is characterized by the formation of small, painless papules in the mouth. Although it predominantly affects children and adolescents, it can also occur in adults. It is important to note that Heck Disease is a synonym for Focal Epithelial Hyperplasia and these terms are used interchangeably in medical literature. Other synonyms for this condition include multifocal epithelial hyperplasia, focal epithelial hyperplasia of the oral mucosa, and focal epithelial hyperplasia of the buccal mucosa.
